Devices work well. They are short range but that's how zigbee works. Make sure you have enough routers. People who have trouble with zigbee devices don't realize they need at least one router per room to support a strong resilient mesh. See picture of the signal strength panel from the smart life app which is a must have feature to make sure the mesh is working. Forget about the home assistant app and complicated setup it requires. The smart life signal strength panel is all you need. Just use the double duty zigbee smart plugs in every room and your battery devices will work fine. (must pair battery sensors last, in final location).
